Description and Background
Description:
Grothnak's features favor the orc side of his heritage. He is short and stout with a bald head, puggish nose, and greenish-gray skin. The white hand of the Uruks (see below) is tattooed on the right side of his face.
Background:
Grothnak grew up in a small community of half-orcs in the slums of Hookhill. As a third-generation half-orc, he is actually closer to 5/8 orc. The rough streets of the ghetto made him strong and taught him to fight. The brutality he saw also instilled a strong sense of right and wrong.
At a young age, he joined a 'gang' of half-orcs who called themselves the Uruks. They followed an idealized version of the 'Old Ways' they ascribed to their orc kin. Foremost among these Ways were the virtues of duty, honor, and fearlessness in battle.
On the day Grothnak turned 13, the age at which a man of orc blood is expected to make his own way in life, he tried to join the local lord's guard. He was, of course, rejected. Grothnak set out on his own after that, in search of places where a strong arm and doughty spirit could serve the cause of justice. |
