Description and Background   
Description:
Azoth Al-Aziz is a tall, thin, spider of a man with dark features and darker mien. He is crowned with a black turban, and plagued with a great and terrible dignity. When he goes to war, he is adorned with a horned ceremonial helmet and holy, black plate mail etched with runes and scenes of meteors crashing to earth. He wields a sacred Rod inscribed with R'lyehian letters, and carries a black and green shield emblazoned with his holy symbol: the Elder Sign, an all-seeing eye set in the center of a pentagram. The dark priest is a disciplined, cautious and deliberate planner. He values order, tradition, hierarchy, and the security they seemingly provide.

Background:
Since childhood, Azoth Al-Aziz has served Nodens, Elder God of the Great Abyss and the temporary imprisoner of Cthulhu. Al-Aziz is no proselytizer, seeking to covert men to his god. Nodens cares not for Men, let alone worshipers. His church is a secret cult. Al-Aziz serves his dark master by being ever vigilant of encroachments by the Great Old Ones and their Minions, through the thin veil that men call reality, into this plane of existence. It is this service that brought Al-Aziz far from his desert homeland of Zakhara to follow rumors of the legendary Hidden Shrine. The 3'x3' rug will fly 60' per round.
Can be used two times a day. Duration: one round per point of Intelligence.
It requires intense meditation to fly it, hence the limits.

2. Rod of Nodens.

Once a week may summon a Nightgaunt to fight for the wielder in a given battle.
As related in the bardic tales of The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath,
Nodens is served by nightgaunts. The rod is carved in runes:
