Description and Background
Description:
Herbert the Sincere resembles his namesake. His attitude is very sincere. He says what he means and means what he says. He rarely intends offense, but sensitive folk can be put off by his directness. Herbert is an acolyte of Valadon and takes this commitment and oath very seriously. He is a true believer and wants to spread his faith to any that will listen and even to some who are less than interested, in the hopes that he may bring them around. He's not openly annoying in his evangelism but he can be persistent and rarely misses the opportunity to point out or reference the power represented by his deity.

Background:
Herbert grew up in medium sized town about a days ride from Dead Tree. He was the youngest boy in a home with 3 boys and 2 girls. He and his brothers were all raised as rough laborers (by a carpenter father) with the intent to eventually get into the trades. His attention was always on greater things and the local chapel of Valadon was one of few outlets for that sort of thing. After a long summer completing repairs on the chancery next to the chapel, he grew close to two of the acolytes there and proved his worth to them on repeated occasions. After the repairs were completed, they offered him the option to stay on and study at the chapel. They would provide his room and board and he would learn the ways of Valadon. His family was not initially pleased by what seemed like an attempt to get out of hard work, but over time, they knew his heart was.....sincere. Thus the nickname they gave him. It has stuck ever since. He now wears it with pride.
