Description and Background
Description:
Zaent is as beautiful and elegant as any elf. But his eyes were an honest witness to a life that hadn't exactly been overwhelmed with gentility and kindness. What those eyes had seen made his soul ugly. There was nothing left of his heart but scar tissue. He is cool, calculating, and cold-blooded, qualities that make him a shrewd negotiator and advisor, good at seeing all angles, but also a person very hard to like.

Background:
Zaent is a clear-eyed cynical realist who lives without romanticism, illusions, faith, ideals or dreams. 'Delusions' is what he would call them, in polite company anyway. He has few goals beyond day to day survival, except to raise enough wealth to disappear from this place. He got close once and it bit him in the ass. And so Zaent is stuck... wondering if he'll ever see another score of a lifetime. Before the Thieves Guild sent Zaent to infiltrate the Delvers on their behalf, he was a thief, a fixer, and a troubleshooter for Vornheim's thriving underworld. Zaent tells no one that he was an orphaned street urchin who fell in with a gang of human bandits, and since then he's steadily moved up the ranks of the Thieves Guild. With no parents or family to protect him, he learned early on to trust no one. That sage policy has kept him alive... and utterly alone.
