Description and Background
Description:
Fairly tall for the 1870's, Jack stands a hair under 6 feet. His rugged features sport a long mustache and neatly-cut dark brown hair that he keeps pomaded for a neat appearance. His clothes tend to tans and browns with a white shirt and black puff tie with a silver stick pin (a lone star) and his black boots sport Mexican silver spurs and toe plates. No tenderfoot, he tries to stay clean and neat because one thing the Army taught him was that filth brings disease.

Background:
Suicide Jack LaGrone was more properly christened John Michael LaGrone and was born in Georgia on 29 September 1840. In the 50's his family (of planters) moved to Harrison county, Texas where they soon intermarried with local families such as the Reels, Porters, and Kuykendalls. Establishing a new cotton plantation, the family also took advantage of the virgin forests of East Texas establishing a lumber concern. Then the election of Lincoln happened. Unlike practically every one else in his family, Jack was sickened by slavery and everything to do with. He left Fairfield, Texas, where he had been reading law with Judge John Gregg, and joined up with the 1st Texas Cavalry (US) to fight for the Union. His unit took part in some of the battle as the Union fought to control Louisiana. Discharged from the army in 1868 as a lieutenant, Jack could obviously not return home and instead headed for the West. For the past 10 years he has tried his hand at several things, as was common back then, but more often than not his sense of justice and skill with guns has led him to bring in bounties. He has most recently brought in a couple of minor members of the O'Driscoll Boys, a minor gang in the region, Now he's boarding a train to Cheyenne....

Notes
Hindrances
Major
- Code of Honor. Never break your word. Never ignore an insult to yourself, to a lady (even Soiled Doves), or to your flag. Never shoot anyone in the back. Never draw on an unarmed man.

Minor
- Enemy: The O'Driscoll Boys. Small-time gang led by Colm O'Driscoll.
- Vengeful. Your character always attempts to right a wrong he feels was done to him. If this is a Minor Hindrance, he usually seeks vengeance legally.

That's 4 points and I spend them to raise Spirit to d8 and gain a 2nd Edge.
Edges
Trademark Weapon: 'Old Abe' his trusty Evans repeater with a custom mesquite stock with a carved eagle head on the stock. +1 Shooting.

True Grit. +1 Grit.
Nightmare
The Dream is always the same, occurring infrequently. He can't breathe, but he has to do something, what he doesn't know. All he can see are dark shapes against a pale background, is there blood in his eyes? He's on his fet stumbling but it's not ~quite~ dark.He can't raise his rifle, he fumbles for his pistol but it's taking too long long. He hears a scream and wakes up.
