Description and Background
Description:
Homeworld: Daiphon Inner Drive: To promote harmony between individuals. Purpose: To work within legal systems to protect the powerless from the depredations of the powerful, to punish those actors who disrupt cosmic harmony through corruption, lawlessness and bad-faith agreements. Habits: Xuan enjoys deploying hopelessly obscure aphorisms which are virtually meaningless outside the literati-bureacratic circles where he was educated. Related: He writes terrible poetry. Growing up on Daiphon, he had little access to postech and remains slightly skeptical of the reliability of modern technologies. Personality Traits: Xuan is exceedingly fastidious. He is kind, if not especially warm.

Background:
Celestial Loss Preventer Armitage, Ghosh, and Xia, LP, is an unassuming law firm buried not far from the center of Mejo's old business district. Armitage, Ghosh, and Xia has a number of well-known clients and annual growth commensurate with a small firm that specializes in contract law on the sector's greatest trading hub. Armitage, Ghosh, and Xia is rarely a law student's first choice. Frankly, it is unlikely to ever even cross an ambitious paralegal's mind. Armitage, Ghosh, and Xia, is, to put it kindly, not the sort of place it is difficult to get a job with. Except for when it is. Following a twelve year cycle on an obscure calendar, representatives of Armitage, Ghosh, and Xia hold a very peculiar examination in an undisclosed location. Candidates write an eight-part essay that is equal parts literary prose, legal analysis, and philosophical exegesis in a language that has been dead for a millennium. Few know the examination exists. Even fewer pass. Wei Xuan (魏玄) is one of the strange few to pass the examination and become a paralegal for Armitage, Ghosh, and Xia's Office of Celestial Loss Prevention. Following a period of intensive training, he was sent into the sector to provide pro bono legal services... and to fulfill stranger duties as well. The Wei family toiled for three generations in the fields of Daiphon just to buy one-way passage to Mejo and many more years were spent acquiring any bit of esoteric lore that might one day allow a member of the family to pass the exam. Although his parents and brother all passed on before his training at Armitage, Ghosh, and Xia was complete, his sister, Wei Xiao (魏晓), still lives on Daiphon.

Compelling Gaze 1
You have uncanny powers of influence over the wills of others, though the full exercise of such abilities is draining to you. You do not need to share a language with the target of your influence, but without it you can impart only simple, direct ideas.

Your target must be of approximately human intelligence, though VIs and AIs are subject to your abilities. Note that meeting a target’s gaze is automatic unless the target has some reason not to be looking at the PC or intentionally avoiding their eyes. In combat, this results in a -4 penalty to hit a target if the attacker is avoiding their target’s gaze.

At the cost of a point of System Strain and a Main Action, you may implant a simple suggestion in any single target who is meeting your gaze. The suggestion must not be firmly contrary to the character of the target, but it will be performed so long as it does not imperil or significantly inconvenience the target.

You need not verbalize the suggestion when you make it, but if you do not, the target gets a Mental saving throw to ignore it. The suggestion must be one that could be completed in the same scene.
Abilities
PASSPORT OF HELL
You instinctively blend into whatever culture or society you are physically occupying.
You can speak, read, and write the local language flawlessly so long as you are involved with that society, and intuitively know enough about the culture to avoid breaking important taboos or standing out with odd behavior.
This does not change your physical appearance.

TALLIES THROWN DOWN
When making an Execution Attack (requires one minute of preparation), your attack roll or skill check to hit is invariably successful.
