Description and Background
Description:
Gilwennen has long, straight reddish brown hair and piercingly pale blue eyes which give her a startling presence. Her alien, not-of-this-world quality offsets her beauty and unerringly graceful demeanor to the point that interactions with her can be disconcerting. She is often (always?) overly dramatic. Her movement and posture are reminiscent at all times of an art deco painting or sculpture. She's intense.

Background:
Gilwennen has been patrolling the Old Wood for some hundred years now, looking after the trees and good creatures there - even to the point of aiding, without making her presence known, the rare lost man or hobbit. When the Stinging Defeat came, she, like many other elves, proceeded to the Grey Havens, but found as she stood on the shore ready to depart that she couldn't bear to go. The thought of abandoning her woods and the helpless mortals of Middle Earth to ruin was too much, so she gave up her chance to escape and returned.

Notes
Surprise
If alone and not in metal armor (or if well in advance — 90’ or more — of a party which does not consist entirely of elves and/or halflings) an elven character moves so silently that he or she will surprise (q.v.) monsters 66 2/3 (d6, 1 through 4) of the time unless some portal must be opened in order to confront the monster. In the latter case the chance for surprise drops to 33 1/3 (d6, 1-2).
Secret Doors
Secret or concealed doors are difficult to hide from elves. Merely passing within 10’ of the latter makes an elven character 16 2/3 (1 in 6) likely to notice it. If actively searching for such doors, elven characters are 33 1/3 (2 in 6) likely to find a secret door and 50 likely (3 in 6) to discover a concealed portal.
Resistance to Sleep and Charm
Elven characters have a 90 resistance to sleep and charm spells (and the saving throw against spells is allowed versus the charm spell).
To Hit Bonus
When employing either a bow of any sort other than a crossbow, or a short or long sword, elven characters gain a bonus of +1 on their die rolls “to hit”.
